Adolescence is, in general, a very painful, confusing, and difficult developmental phase in one’s life. It can be a harrowing experience of contemplating independence, developing a sense of self, discovering one’s sexuality, and feeling misunderstood, unaccepted, and uncomfortable in one’s own body. Additional stressors or life pressures can introduce further complications to this already difficult developmental phase.
You may have noticed that there have been changes in your teen, their mood, their school work, relationships with friends and family, or they may be experiencing behavioural problems. If this is the case, but they do not want to open up to you, my adolescent therapy sessions are a good avenue to explore to get them the help they need.
I specialise in assisting adolescents in the following areas:
- Identity development
- Low-self esteem
- Body positivity and addressing body shaming
- Test anxiety
- School refusal
